Slow Cooked Braised Steak
I don’t particularly like winter, except for the cooking! It means more healing bone broths, nourishing stews and casseroles and warming anti-inflammatory soups. It also means I can make use of my favorite kitchen item… The Slow-Cooker.
Even though I love having nutritious, beautiful food to eat, I don’t like spending hours cooking, I want to spend that time with Indie and Dave. So I’m all about time efficiency and the slow cooker is where it’s at.
It’s also a cheap way to eat as you can use tough cuts of meat that are generally cheaper but after cooking for 8 or so hours are so tender, melts in your mouth.
How?
Brown 1kg of braised steak with coconut oil in a fry pan
Add the following and simmer for 5 minutes.
3 cups of healing home made bone broth,
2 cups of tomato sauce (homemade if you can),
3 cardamom pods,
2 bay leaves,
1 teaspoon turmeric,
½ teaspoon celtic sea salt
½ teaspoon ground coriander
Put into the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours while you go about your day.
Serve over cauli-rice or mix in steamed veggies of your choice.
